2026 School Website Updates
We’re moving our website hosting to the cloud!
We are excited to announce that we are migrating all our NZ school websites to a globally recognised cloud environment. This is an “under-the-bonnet” upgrade designed to provide your school with lightning-fast load times, rock-solid stability, and enhanced data security.
Schools: What does this mean for you and website visitors? ... Next to nothing!
Everything is happening “under the bonnet,” in places you’ve probably never been.
At this stage, we just need your approval for the technical people to update website DNS records. Oh, and the name/email of your tech support person :-). An email / reply will suffice!.
Note: there are NO changes for any of these people:
… Website visitors–parents, staff, students, your local community, anyone else!
… Website managers–whoever manages content on your site will use EXACTLY the same portal/dashboard
Technical stuff
To move a website to a new server, changes are made to the DNS records of your school domain. This is a rare event, and always handled by the “techs.”
DNS records must be updated at each of these Stages by your domain name registrar:
Stage 1: Once the first DNS record is updated, KiwiSchools can make a copy of your site on the new platform. Then we perform an extensive series of updates and checks to ensure everything still looks and works the way you’re used to at school!
Stage 2: When we make your site live on the new platform, another DNS update gets made. You’re unlikely to see any change at all!
Once the migration is complete, we’ll send your website manager a slightly different link to log in. That’s it… simple!
